On Thursday March 27, 2008, the Explorers of Post #449, their families, friends, advisors, and department personnel celebrated the 49th annual Explorer Banquet. The Explorer Banquet is the department’s way of saying thank you to all the Explorers for their dedication to the department, and commitment to community service. This year the Explorers donated over 20,000 service hours which equates to s savings of $1,126,800 for the County of Orange.Every year the department also votes to recognize a number of individuals for going “above and beyond.”

- Most Spirited Award: Christina Colima, Elizabeth Jimenez, Simona Popescu
- Most Improved Explorer Award: Melissa Gorfu
- Advisor of the Year Award: Deputy Sherri Gilman
- Leadership Award an Explorer of the Year Award: Katie de Coup-Crank
On behalf of the Explorers of Post #449, I would like to thank the Sheriff’s Advisory Board, Sheriff’s SWAT, Sheriff’s Tactical Training Center, Learning for Life, OCTA, our Advisors, department personnel, Oakley, Surefire, and anyone else I forgot to mention who has graciously supported the Explorer Program for the year of 2007.
