Passing of David Edgar

Reserve Investigator David Edgar passed away on Monday, March 24, 2008, at Arrowhead Regional Medical Center in Colton, California. David was injured in a collision during a legal drag-race on Saturday, March 15, 2008, in Fontana, California. He was in a coma until his passing.

David, age 59, has proudly served as an Orange County Reserve Deputy Sheriff since May 8, 2000. His most recent assignment was in the Dignitary Protection Unit. His full-time career was with the U.S. Forest Service. He had prior service as an Orange County Reserve Deputy Sheriff serving in Operations and the Mounted Unit. Additionally, Dave supported Search and Rescue by acting as a liaison with the U.S. Forest Service.

David’s Memorial Service was held on Monday, March 21, 2008, at 1000 hours, at Saddleback Church. The service was well attended by people from the different areas of Dave’s life including his family, the U.S Forest Service, the Orange County Sheriff-Coroner Department, Cub Scouts, racing friends, fellow softball coaches and neighbors. Many kinds words were said about how David served others and lived life to the fullest.

David is survived by his wife, Sheryl, and their children Drew, Megan, Niki, David Jr. and Maddie. Additional survivors include his former wife, Jacquine Campbell and their daughter, Denise Edgar and his brothers and sisters. Please keep the Edgar family in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

Reserve Investigator David Edgar will be missed by the Orange County Sheriff-Coroner Department and the all those he associated with.
