Deputy Anton Pereyra, a classification Deputy from the Intake Release Center and cross-designated ICE agent normally works in placing inmates in the correct mods of the jail or dealing with immigrants. But for the last 5 years he has also been an Advisor for the Sheriff’s Department Explorer Post #449.
While working a recruiting booth with six Explorers from West Division at the Stanton Cino de Mayo Celebration, a lost, sobbing, little boy was brought to his attention. Deputy Pereyra’s fatherly skills shined as he was able to calm the boy down enough to get his name and the last known location of his mother. After an announcement and brief search the boy was happily reunited with his mother. Just another example why West is the Best.
