PSR Brian Gilmore Puts His CPR Training To Good Use

September 2nd, 2008 by Lt. Tom Slayton, CSB Commander

Recently, PSR Brian Gilmore found himself on babysitting duty with his granddaughter and her two friends. They stopped in for lunch at a local warehouse store food court when a man collapsed in front of him.

In his own words:

I kind of jumped in because everyone was just looking. By the time i had him on the ground he had no pulse, was not breathing, and was starting to change color. I started cpr with 30 compressions and a lady helped me with the head tilt. Halfway through the second set of compressions he revived. What a feeling for me! The paramedics arrived and said to me nine out of ten people like this person don’t come back. I have to say, thanks to my CPR training at the Sheriff Department, i was able to save a life.

regards Brian Gilmour, PSR.

Thank you, Brian, for your continued service to this department, and the people of Orange County!
