OC Students and OC Sheriff’s Explorers participate in Fill the House program to assist battered victims

July 23rd, 2010 by Darrell Lum

DUILA’s NEXT STEP members and OC Sheriff Explorers helped make a local Human Options shelter house into a “home.” 40 victims of domestic violence – women with children – rely on this confidential location for safety, counseling, and support for 45 days after fleeing their abusive situation. Donations were collected and combined with donations collected from KIA Motors of Irvine to help the victims of domestic violence through a partnership with Human Options program.

The Orange County Sheriff’s Harbor Patrol boat made an unexpected arrival and gave a demonstration for the students and Explorers.

Students from various Orange County high schools attended the event not only for a worthy cause, but to enjoy a little sun, fun and relaxation. Students also earned community service hours for their efforts.
